No walk in the [Will Rogers] park

Our "walk" through Rustic Canyon yesterday afternoon was awesome, but hardly a "walk"; it was, as David described it, "very technical"!
The second half included the following elements:
scaling steep hillsides, repelling down a steep hill with a rope, hiking through a creek, and a minor waterfall.  There was great intensity on everyone's part, perhaps most on Frasier's.  Frasier turned in to a fearless little hiker yesterday, climbing with his little legs up some pretty vertical hills and bravely navigating the rocks around the creek.  I have never seen him quite so happy, energized, excited, and soaking wet.  After three hours he didn't appear to be tired, but kept running ahead of us, and then running back to see why we were taking so long.  Our shoes and socks were waterlogged and we were a mess, but the corgi kept on trucking, leading the pack through the "trail."  After hot showers and a bath for Frasier, our hike was followed by a great meal.  David made Crostini with anchovy mayonaise, sundried tomato, sliced hard-boiled, and argula (served on the bread from Maison du Pain).  I made David's favorite pasta, Marcella's Red Pepper, Proscuitto, and pea pasta.

I'm fantasizing about a bigger living space, one that would allow me to have Virginia's "room of one's own."  I would love to have a personal office space, a place where I could actually sit and work on my dissertation (yes, I said it, I think I might actually dust it off and start writing again).  I would love to do something like this but with a different paper inside (I like this).  I particularly like that she added the cabinet doors, this would be a great place to stash bill paying supplies, my huge collection of diss articles and all those unsightly cords and chargers for cameras and ipods and various and sundry electronics.  And I want to find a big table (these are ubiquitous and cheap at thrift stores and would be about the right size) and paint it white or black and stick one of these on it.   Oooh, and now that I think about it, my green chair would look great with that wallpaper and the whole, manor house theme of that wallpaper.  Yes, it's coming together in mind, now just a matter of finding a place to live where I could actually spread out!

we've been trying to revamp the "room of our own" as well so i love those links and ideas! and although i can't seem to find a link the spring martha stewart had the most gorgeous ideas for home offices-- there's a gorgeous pink open/close craft armoire that i think would be great fun using 2 billys that you hinge together and i think put on casters. check that out--and february's (sad to say now defunct) blueprint had some swanky ideas sprucing up billys as well. can't wait to see how it all works out!
